"And I speak what I feel in the booth in the spirit of truth,
Cos all these kids that I meet man they mirror my youth,
And I could have gone the wrong way, the easy option,
But I chose to go the long way, the streets are watching"
The massively influential Hilltop Hoods are widely recognised as the frontrunners of the hip hop movement in Australia. Hailing from the Adelaide Hills, the Hilltop Hoods – MCs Pressure and Suffa and DJ Debris – have released four landmark albums and their two most recent records ‘The Calling’ and ‘The Hard Road’ reached platinum sales. As well as debuting at No.1 on the ARIA charts, ‘The Hard Road’ has won multiple awards and set a benchmark for independent Australian releases. As part of Adelaide’s Certified Wise crew and one of the key artists distributed by Obese Records, the Hilltop Hoods are respected and admired in the hip hop community and, increasingly, within a much broader audience.
